Biography of Hamed El Chiaty
Hamed El Chiaty, the Chairman and CEO of Travco Group International, graduated from the American University in Cairo with an MBA in Economics and completed military service. El Chiaty spent two years working in the tourism industry until the establishment of his first travel company, Travco Travel Company of Egypt, in 1979, which has become the Middle East's foremost Travel Group.
El Chiaty holds numerous prominent positions in various influential tourism related associations like the Egyptian Hotels' Association, and the Higher Committee for Tourism (the Supreme Council for Tourism). Additionally, El Chiaty is an active member of the American and German Chambers of Commerce. In 2006 El Chiaty was accredited by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism for his leadership and efforts in promoting tourism in the country and especially for his role in introducing the North Coast to the Egyptian Tourism Map.
Under the leadership of El Chiaty, Travco Travel grew to become the Middle East's Leading Leisure Group operating through its integrated group of companies exceeding 30 companies in most fields related to the tourism and travel sectors, inbound and outbound tourism with assets exceeding EGP 3 billion; a ground transport fleet exceeding 900 different-sized tourist transfer vehicles including deluxe coaches, car rentals and safari vehicles..Travco also excelled in the aviation industry by introducing Travco Air for air charters and Top Aviation for ground handling services, ticketing offices throughout Egypt, and a host of airline representations. As for hospitality, Travco owns and operates 20 luxury Nile Cruise ships; in addition to, the ownership and management of three acclaimed hotel chains;.The luxurious JAZ Resorts, Iberotel hotels and Resorts, and Sol Y Mar with a total hotel portfolio exceeding 32 hotels aiming to reach 48 hotels in Egypt and the Middle East by 2010. Recently Travco has spread its business across the.globe with 10 international branches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Qatar, and Japan, and China with further expansion branches underway.
